The Pioneer Valley Gazette is committed to accuracy and transparency. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and clearly. This page explains our corrections policy and provides a way for readers to report inaccuracies.
How to Report an Error
If you notice an error in one of our articles—whether a factual mistake, misspelling, or misquotation—we want to hear about it. Please send details to corrections@pioneervalleygazette.com with the following information: the headline and date of the article, the specific error, and what the correct information should be. We typically review correction submissions within one business day.
You can also contact our editorial office by phone at (413) 555-0142, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Our corrections desk staff will investigate your submission and respond within two business days.
Our Corrections Policy
The Pioneer Valley Gazette distinguishes between corrections and clarifications. A correction fixes a factual error that materially affects the reader's understanding of the story—misstated dates, incorrect names, wrong numbers, or misattributed quotes. A clarification adds necessary context that the original article lacked, such as additional background information or a reader's full response to a statement.
Corrections appear in print in our Corrections section and online with a note appended to the original article. All corrections are also archived on this page for easy reference. We include the date the correction was published and a brief explanation of what was corrected.
Recent Corrections
- August 22, 2026: A profile of Greenfield High School Principal James Henshaw incorrectly stated he earned his master's degree from Boston University. He earned it from University of Massachusetts Amherst.
- August 18, 2026: An article about the Hadley Farmer's Market reported that the market operates year-round. It is closed December through February.
- August 14, 2026: A review of the new Northampton Public Library renovation gave an incorrect opening date. The renovation is scheduled to complete in October 2026, not September.
- August 10, 2026: An article about Springfield's transit authority misspelled the name of Deputy Director Carol Ostrowski as "Carol Ostromski."
